Begin with about a cup of sourdough starter in a small bowl. To feed it:
- Add to the starter:
- 1/4 cup white flour
- 1/4 cup whole-wheat flour
- 1/4 cup warm water (approximately 80° F)

With a spatula, mix the four and water into the starter.

Whisk the starter to break up any flour lumps and get a smooth batter-like mixture.
